Rising Star Award
For someone who is just coming out of their shell!
Not based on skill alone, this award celebrates a newer player who fully embraces Mussels values: inclusivity, fun, sportsmanship, and community. They may be early in their hockey journey, but their energy and attitude make it clear they’re a rising force in our league.
Rookie of the Year
What it means: First year, full heart.
This award goes to a first-year player who exemplifies the spirit of the Mussels—friendly, kind, welcoming, and committed. Skills measured here are about attitude, energy, and the joy they bring to the ice and to the room.
Most Improved
What it means: Growth. Grit. Mussels spirit.
Voted by the coaching team, this award recognizes a first-year player in Learn to Play who has shown the most personal improvement. Whether it’s skating, confidence, or teamwork, this player leans into learning and embodies Mussels values every shift.
Impact Award
For changing the game in all the right ways.
Given to a Mussel who has made a lasting impact on the way our Mussels community operates and evolves. Whether through leadership, advocacy, culture-building, or showing up in the clutch, this person helps shape the Mussels identity while always holding true to our core values.
Mussel of the Year
The highest honour.
This award is given to a Mussel who exemplifies everything our LGBTQ+ and Allies league stands for—safety, respect, sportsmanship, inclusivity, reliability, and generosity of spirit. They contribute on and off the ice and make the Mussels better just by being part of it. This is the ultimate Mussel.
