Halifax Mussels Learn 2 Play Scholarship Opportunity
Learn to play hockey for FREE!
Have you always wanted to play hockey, but faced social or financial barriers?
Would you like to spend an hour a week this fall and winter with some amazing, friendly folks while learning hockey?
We have a fantastic opportunity for you!
Halifax Mussels is excited to announce the first Halifax Mussels Learn to Play Scholarship (L2PS). This opportunity is open to members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community who have never played hockey before and would like to learn the game. Applicants must be 18+.
For the inaugural 2021-22 L2PS, the recipient will receive:
● Full registration in our Sunday night 8-9pm Skills & Drills program at Centennial Arena in Halifax,
● Use of a full set of hockey equipment for the season
● Insurance
● Access to all the benefits and perks of being a regular member of the Halifax Mussels hockey group.

● Your full name, pronouns, gender, age and preferred method of contact (email or phone)
● A little bit of information about yourself (100-250 words):
○ Which of the above group(s) you identify with
○ How new to skating/hockey you are
○ Why you would like to join the Halifax Mussels
● Any other information you feel would help our committee in the selection process.
Please keep in mind that hockey is a physically demanding sport. This opportunity is a great way to improve your overall activity level while having a lot of fun and learning a new sport in a safe and welcoming environment. Members of Halifax Mussels are expected to exercise their own judgement in deciding if they are safely able to participate in learning to play hockey.
The recipient of the L2PS will be announced in late August.
